São Pedro de Alverca Parish Church

Located in the heart of the historical centre of Alverca, at its highest point, the old Mother Church was built in honour of São Pedro, patron saint of the town. The date of its construction is unknown, but its existence is known.
Alverca Castle
Of the Alverca Castle only a wall remains on the north and east side of the hill. Recently, the existence of an ancient cistern was detected. The oldest historical reference to the castle can be found in the letter of confirmation of the council of Alverca, issued by D. Pedro I, on 24 August 1357. After the 1755 earthquake, some residents took advantage of the castle walls to build their own houses.

São Romão Fountain and Mine

The São Romão wastes are the last physical remains of the Carmelite convent of the same name, founded in 1600 and extinct in 1834. The date of construction of the fountain is unknown.

Choupal Fountain

It was at Fonte do Choupal that the population of the town of Alverca used to get their supplies. It was also a morning meeting place for the women of the village where, many times, the girls met the boys they liked, where friendships were cemented and where they were informed about local news.
