Real Life Example - Nick Jonas
When kids ask him how he manages his condition, he says, “I let them know that I don’t have it all figured out and chasing perfection with type 1 diabetes is impossible. There’s so much that’s out of your hands and finding a way to remain calm and patient in moments where diabetes interrupts your life is key.” He also helped launch GetInsulin.org to help improve access to insulin.

Cell Communication
- Cells in the pancreas release a signal, called insulin, that tells your liver, muscle and fat cells to store this sugar for later use.-In type I diabetes, the pancreatic cells that produce insulin are lost. They are lost because insulin-producing cells in the pancreas carry a "death receptor" that, when activated, causes the cells to self-destruct. In other words, the body is unable to produce insulin as insulin producing cells are killed by your own immune system.
-This leads to the insulin signal to be lost, so the insulin receptor, tyrosine kinase, does not receive a signal to produce the insulin.
