What is the warsaw ghetto
- Largest of the Nazi Ghettos
- Est. on October 12, 1940
- Used to house the country’s Jews
- An overcrowded neighborhood
- Ran by Waldemar Schona
Nazis created it in October 1940
How it origionated
Seperated the "filthy jews"
Was destroyed around 1945

- Enclosed the ghetto in November 15th 1940
- wall was 3m with barbbed wire
- escapees were shot
- policemen partied during most shootings
Space
- 2.4% of the metrapolitan area
- 8-10 people per room
- 460k inhabitants in 1.3 square mile
Sanatation
- VERY Limited sanitation
- Almost 92k deaths in total
- There were only five bathhouses in the entire ghetto
- Serving about 17k people a month
- Many homes didn’t have running water and soap was expensive
Typhus
1940-1942
- People social distanced
- Sharp peak in October 1941 and then it went down until new infections reached 0 in July 1942
- Spread from lice (say)
- Lice was everywhere and spread quickly, bacteria spread by lice
- People weren’t clean
