Interview preparation

What do I need to check with the client?

After you get the interview request you need to get onto the client through telephone or email (ideally telephone) and find out the logistics of what is happening in the interview. The following information is vital:

  • Who is the candidate meeting?
  • The location of the interview (face-to-face or teams)?
  • Parking situation?
  • How does the candidate get into the building?
  • Zoom/Teams link if online

The logistical conversation

  • Confirm time and date's available (get as many as possible for the candidate)
  • How many stages to the interview
  • Set expectations from the client, for example, what can the candidate expect? Are there any technical questions?
  • What will the decision timescales be after the interview?
  • Are there many candidates in the interview process?
This is by no means an exhaustive list, the more info you can get from the client regarding the interview the better for your candidate's preparation.
