The Prosecutions Arguments

  • Stolen coins: Coherent to the listed valuables stolen from the safe deposit boxes .
  • Drill bits: Match the traces of steel in the crime scene.
  • Acetylene torches: Use of the torches is apparent around the whole in the roof of the vault.
  • Hammers: Toolmark experts examine the damage on the safe deposit boxes and compare them to the striking point of the hammers. It is reported to be a match.
  • Stacks of money: Upon discovering stashed money, FBI agents matched them to serial numbers taken from the bank. On a 20–25-acre land, adjacent to property owned by James Densio, millions of dollars in cash and bonds was seized. They traced back funds to the burglary.
  • Fingerprints: A condo rented by Dinsio crew members was discovered. The residence was wipped clean, though they failed to remember to turn on the dishwasher that contained their dirty dishes. It was in their error that allowed for a fingerprint analysis, and further connected them to the crime.

Evidence Summary

Reenactment of Amil Dinsio meeting with the "criminal expert". He finilazes the alibi.

FBI FILES - "THE PERFECT HEIST"

  • The FBI sets up a sting operation, providing Dinsio with an undercover agent under the guise of a criminal expert in solving problems. The alibi is set, and he has a subsequent defense that he uses in court.
  • With the help of another inmate, he buys an alibi for the time of the bank burglary. Such an alibi placed him in a hotel room in Las Vegas - Dinsio soon learns that his fellow inmate reported his plan to officals.
  • A desperate Amil Dinsio who was in custody, fabribricates an alibi.
  • The Dinsio crew lacked the evidence to prove their innocence.

Defense Presented

The FBI’s undercover agent testified about the sting operation. Thus, jury convicts him and the other four defendants; sentencing ranged from 15 to 20 years.

Harry and Ronald Baker, were runaways at the time of the trial. Ronald was arrested two months after the trial, and sentenced for 15 years. Harry would soon meet defeat 8 years later; he was inccerated for 20 years.

Two trials took place in Los Angles, California in October of 1972. Amil Dinsio pleads his innocence by using the false alibi as a defence.

Jury Decision & Sentence

RONALD BARBER

AMIL DINSIO - "THE FAMILY MAN"

Sociological Theory

  • Ronald wanted to retire from criminality and live a life honesty.
  • He was compelled to follow through with the bank burglary in California.
  • Robberies and burglaries were all Ronald knew: he was enamoured by the heist.
  • It can be assumed that such was the same for a few members of the Dinsio crew. That they hoped for more, but they were burglars, and believed that as such, they could not move past those lines.

Economic Theory

  • Amil and James Dinsio grew up lacking life necessities: they were poor.
  • Turned to burglaries and robberies as their ticket out.
  • They were motivated by their unfortunate experience and longed to build a future with endless opportunities. From then, the “Dinsio Crew” came to be.
