We use Past Simple for telling about events from past and for facts, that aren't acutal anymore.

Key Words:first, then, last week, last year, last month, in [year], yesterday

Person + "didn't" + infinitive + rest of the sentence

"Did" + person + infinitive + rest of the sentence

Person + verb in Past Simple + rest of the sentence.

I didn't work. You didn't work. He/she/it didn't work. We didn't work. You didn't work. They didn't work.

Did I work? Did you work? Did he/she/it work? Did we work? Did you work? Did they work?

I worked. You worked. He/she/it worked. We worked. You worked. They worked.

We use Past Continuous, when we're talking about events, that lasted some time in past.
