The Oromo society as a whole is unified by a set of common ideals. The most essential aspects of Oromo society include Gadaa, equality, respect for individual liberty and dignity, and adherence to the rule of law. Safuu is the Oromo people of Oromia's fundamental moral dignity and responsibility principle. Because of Safuu, the Oromos are encouraged to appreciate nature and to treat humans fairly. Men and women who have a common ancestor form a corporate group since they share numerous communal heritage, values, rights, and duties. The society has a significant impact on the lives and behaviors of its members. Individual advantages, rights, obligations /duties/, and social identity are all deeply ingrained in society.

The Oromo are a patriarchal group with moral and cultural constraints on their conduct. Sex and sexuality, like in other African cultures, are taboo topics in Oromo culture. Anyone who freely talks sexuality risks being characterized as 'immoral' or 'loose.' Domestic violence and gender discrimination are common in Oromia, despite the fact that they are outlawed. Gender-based violence against women and girls is under-reported owing to "cultural acceptability, shame, fear, or a victim's understanding of legal safeguards."

The Oromo have a vibrant, rich culture defined by the Oromo language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music, and arts. Today, the Oromo culture is influenced by various life factors and fostered by the large population and vast land areas with varying climatic conditions. The Gadaa system is a highly developed, autonomous system that has touched every element of Oromo society.

gada system
Gada has been the center of the Oromo nation's democratic government system since its inception. The custom influenced other areas, including Kenya, Konso, and Gedeo. The Gada is divided into eleven age categories based on an eight-year increment. Each male Oromo participant gains socio-political privilege based on the level of each authority. A generation is made up of five successive Gada states. This procedure is designed to assign military(dullaa), economic(dingde), political(siyasa), and ritual obligations to those who are entitled to the system(wara amant gegesu). And the authority will be retained until the next official power transfer rate. Since 2016, UNESCO has designated the Gada system as an intangible cultural treasure. Created via communal experience passed down over generations. It is a tool for enforcing moral behavior, strengthening social cohesiveness, and expressing collaborative culture.

relation to African culture
- Oromo culture is related to many African cultures. one reason could be that it is not limited to Ethiopia but extends to Kenya. Many of the dress codes of the Oromos are similar to different African countries; they also share their writing style or alphabeted, which is Latin.
- There is an Oromo network of tribe following the path from Kenya to South Africa, which all follow the Gada system; for example, three ministers of Kenya are Borana Oromos.
- According to some sources, the American constitution was based on the Gada system.

laws of the society
The Oromo Law is a set of collective norms and principles that regulate Oromo life and conduct and are enforced by Oromo social organizations. The Oromo Law is a system of Oromo religious law known as Seera Qaalluu and Gadaa Law, formed from Oromo customs and traditions. The Oromo Law is divided into two categories: • Laws claimed to have been given to the Oromo people by Waaqaa (God) at Odaa Nabee • Human-made laws, such as Seera Gadaa, interpretations, rituals, and traditions

food culture
Oromo is well known for having the highest consumption of butter and milk, so it's no surprise that they are essential components of traditional dishes like "Chiko," barley conserved with butter, which is traditionally made by women using distilled butter and barley powder.Because the dish-making process is very concentrated and requires a lot of wisdom, you may not find many traditional establishments in the city, but if you do, please check them out. Traditional meals are about more than simply food and drink; they also concern the psychological happiness and pleasure bestowed by God. Similarly, certain foods are exclusively created for specific rites, ceremonial events, weddings, and other special occasions.

Traditional Oromo attire is highly bright and has a beautiful playing line on the fabric. The traditional dress consists of work for men, which look like robes, and wandabo for women, who also wear qollo and sadetta, both of which are cotton hand spun and handwoven. The Oromo are also experienced with wearing leather (animal skin robes). According to a study made by several persons, there are around 30 most often worn costumes in the Oromo heritage. Many talented and enthusiastic designers have modified and improved the classic Oromo dress. These aided the Oromo culture, particularly its dress, in reaching the global market and promoting a beautiful and fantastic identity.

death
Death is also known as "Boyichaa" in Oromo society. When a household in Oromia faces death, the community comes to their aid through money, time, and physical labor. There are different phases, but The first phase is:Awalcha (funeral)
- the dead body waits for the whole family from all around the place to gather even far away.
- After everyone had gathered and the funeral began, everybody cried with a melody. They would often use the phrase "who called you?" and cry with pieces calling every dead member of the family that may have died a hundred years ago. An example could be "GERERSA."
- They will also talk about the person's achievement, which could be his behavior or accomplishment throughout his life.
- They will shoot a gun depending on the position of the person who died.
- they will dedicate a day to this person three days after death, then seven days after death, then 15 days after death, and then every year will be celebrated
- They also celebrate their birthday every year. (in some parts of Oromia)

language
The original Oromo language is known as Afaan Oromo or Oromiffaa, and its written form, Qubee Afaan Oromo, has recently altered to adopt the Roman alphabet. During Haile Selassie's reign, Afaan Oromo was outlawed, and Amharic was the only language taught in schools or used in public for decades. Thus, Oromos who received formal education or grew up in cities can speak and write Amharic, whereas people in the countryside who were cut off from educational campaigns continued to speak Oromiffaa. Although some Oromos speak Tigrigna, Somali, Arabic, or Swahili, most Oromo exiles prefer to speak Oromiffaa out of cultural pride. English literacy is modest, but in English is modest, although it is increasing as more individuals study English. tribes In oromia have different pronounsiation
