• is the noises due to high-velocity blood flows in heart and main vessels that became turbulent

• starts with tone II
• the point of maximum volume is more often in the Botkin-Erbzone (to the left of the sternum from its edge to the parasternal line on level of 3rd/ 4th intercostal space)
• it can discribed as an early diastolic decrescendo murmur
• it can present with a bounding pulse or wide pulse pressure

Aortic regurgitation

• AoRe cause is high-velocity diastolic reverse blood flow that comes back to the left ventricle due to the damage of aortic valve leaflets ( endocarditis) . Pressure gradient between Aoand left ventricle in diastole is also high ( 60 -80 mm Hg); thus, the velocity of regurgitation is more than 4-5 m/sec
