93% of job requriters use LinkedIn to research candidates (LinkedIn, 2018). You can research companies, employees, and hiring managers.
LinkedIn is like an online CV, you can show off your skills, experience and achievements.
LinkedIn lets you connect with professionals, which will be important for future internship or job opportunities.
LinkedIn is actively posting opportunities for jobs, and some opportunities don't exist on traditional job sites.
LinkedIn groups allow you to join in discussions with other graduates and professionals in the industry.
Create your profile
- Add a clear profile picture of yourself (preferably a headshot)
- Add a background photograph that represents you (Keep it professional)
- Add a tagline, summarise what you are looking for and the degree you are doing
- Add an about text, be creative (but always professional), what is unique about you? include your achievements, awards, and other interesting experiences.
- Add your experience: Jobs, Internships, and any other experience
- Add your skills, languages you speak, and contact details

Follow other accounts
- Follow lots of fashion houses, especially ones you like
- Follow companies such as LVMH, Kering, and Inditex
- Follow magazines such as Vogue, Dazed, Elle etc.
- If possible follow Creative Directors, CEOs, Designers etc.
- Follow fashion business pages such as, Business of Fashion, WGSN, WWD etc.

Connect with others
- Try to connect with employees at different fashion companies but don't be discouraged if they do not connect with you.
- Connect with students, past employers, and lecturers
- Always include a note when inviting to connect with others, summarise who you are, and why you want to connect.

- Leave engaging comments underneath posts, to gain exposure and likes = profile visits
- Join LinkedIn groups, and engage in discussions

- Display any certificates you gained from your personal life or professionally, such as any short course completion etc.
