superlative ADJECTIVES

>Los adjetivos superlativos se utilizan para describir un objeto que se encuentra en el límite superior o inferior de una cualidad (el más alto, el más pequeño, el más rápido, el más alto). Se utilizan en oraciones en las que se compara un sujeto con un grupo de objetos.

> Superlative adjectives are used to describe an object which is at the upper or lower limit of a quality (the tallest, the smallest, the fastest, the highest). They are used in sentences where a subject is compared to a group of objects.

SHORT ADJECTIVES adjetivos cortos

> In short adjectives, we have to add "-est" > En adjetivos cortos, tenemos que agregar "-est" al final de la palabra

1) Amaro is the tallest student in the course.

REMEMBER! you have to add "the" before the adjective!

REMEMBER! tienen que agregar "the" antes de la palabra (adjetivo)

SHORT ADJECTIVES RULES

> if the adjective ends in -y, change the "y"to "i" example: Happy --> the Happiest > si el adjetivo termina con "-y", cambiarlo a "iest") ejemplo: Happy --> the Happiest

> if the adjective ends in "-e", only add an "-st" example: Nice --> Nicest > si el adjetivo termina con "-e", agregar solo la "-st" ejemplo: Nice --> Nicest

SHORT COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES RULES

> if the adjective has a consonant + vowel + consonant, repeat the last consonant + "-est" example: Big --> the Biggest, Hot --> the Hottest > si el adjetivo se escribe con una consonante + vocal + consonant, se repite la última consonante + "-est" ejemplo: Big --> the Biggest, Hot --> the Hottest

Irregular adjectives: good --> the best bad --> the worst

EXAMPLES

1) Fast: My cellphone is the fastest

2) Safe: I live in the safest place in the city.

3) Cold: Antartida is the coldest part of Chile.

4) Old: My grandfather is the oldest person in the world.

5) Hard: Math is the hardest subject.

LONG ADJECTIVES adjetivos largos

> In LONG adjectives, we have to add "the most" before the adjective. > En adjetivos LARGOS, tenemos que agregar "the most" al principio de la palabra (adjetivo)

1) Stephen Hawking was the most intelligent person in the world.

2) 7th grade is the most awesome course at this school.

EXAMPLES

1) Intelligent: I am the most intelligent person in the world.

2) Famous: Messi is the most famous football player in the world.

3) Expensive: iPhone 16 Pro Max is the most expensive cellphone in the world.

4) Difficult: Math tests are the most difficult evaluations at this school.

5) Important: Self-love is the most important thing today.
