Greek Goddess
Hecate
Powers
Hecate possessed a vast amount of powers, which were later assimilated by other deities. Hecate could grant wealth and blessings on her worshippers, yet she could also take back these gifts if she were not adequately worshipped."
Origin
Hecate was the chief goddess over magic and spells. She witnessed the abduction of Demeter’s daughter Persephone to the underworld and, torch in hand, assisted in the search for her. Therefore, pillars called Hecataea stood at crossroads and doorways, perhaps to keep away evil spirits. Hecate was represented as single-formed in a long robe, holding burning torches. However, in later representations she was triple-formed, with three bodies standing back-to-back. She usually was accompanied by packs of barking dogs.
Story from Mythology
Hecate was the goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She was the only child of Perses and Asteria from whom she received her power over heaven, earth, and sea.
