Repetition

The repetition of words like "and" in the sentence (Polysyndetion) "With bombs and guns and shovels and battle-gear" really emphasizes the amount of equiptment and weaponry they needed.

Imagery

Sigfreid Sasoon displays the colours and setting of the battle feild very well. the use of the word "dun" really shows how bland the settings were

Rhyming

At the ends of almost each line there are rhyming words. "dun" and "sun" , "battle gear" and "fear" , "wrists" and "fists etc. The use of the unorginized rhyming techniques creates the vision of how unplanned the war was

Who was the poem intended for?

Siegfried Sasoon wrote his poems to fully captulate the cruel nature of war. his poems could have been for his fellow soldiers or even people who arent involved in the war. His poems really let us envision the brutally and life long misarry that is caused by the war

The most effective part of the poem for us

In our opinion, the line "Flounders in mud. O Jesus, make it stop!" is the most effect part of the poem. For me, this line really shows the reader what the soldier was going through and the emotions they were feeling. .
