About Fight Club
Fight Club is a 1999 movie, directed by David Fincher and it's a first-person view of the narrator, however he is unreliable. This movie provides a rather flagrant illustration of mental health and its theme is Rebellion and Sacrifice. David Fincher said this was "a coming of age" film.
Actors
There are a lot of actors in Fight Club but the two main ones are Brad Pitt playing Tyler Durden and Edward Norton playing The Narrator.This cast includes Helena Bonham Carter, Jared Leto, Meat Loaf and more.
Plot
An insomniac office worker meets a devil-may-care soap maker and soon finds himself living in his squalid house after his perfect apartment is destroyed. They form an underground fight club with strict rules and fight other men who are fed up with their mundane lives.
Plot
Tyler Durden is revealed to have been the Narrator himself - Norton's character had imagined Durden as a separate being in order to make sense of his own inner conflict and as such, all the acts carried out by Durden were actually his own actions(Narrator).
Info
Inspiration
Fight Club was first based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk. After the movie, it was released two sequel books named Fight Club 2 and Fight Club 3 with the same characters but with a different story, obviously.
Ratings
Fight club didn't have the expected success in the first years after release, but now it is considered a "modern masterpiece". Fight Club has 79% on the "Tomatometer" but it has 96% of audience score in Rotten Tomatoes; In the Imdb site, Fight Club has a rating of 8.8/10; In Google Films it has a score of 4.7/5; And in the box office it has made 101.2 million dollars as opposed to the 63 million spent on the movie making a profit of 37 million dollars.
"Real Fight Club"
In the Fight club created in the movie, there were eight srict rules:
- The first rule of the fight club is you do not talk about Fight Club;
- The second rule is you DO NOT talk about Fight Club;
- Someone yells stop, goes limp, taps out, the fight is over;
- Only two guys to a fight;
- One fight at a time;
- No shirts, no shoes;
- Fights will go on as long as they have to;
- The eight and the last rule of the Fight Club is If this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight.
My opinion
In my opinion this movie is, indeed, a modern masterpiece because it talks about a lot of subjects we aren't used to, and that comes with a lot of thought-provoking quotes such as:- It's only after we lost everything that we are free to do anything;
- We buy things we don't need, with money we don't have, to impress people we don't like;
- The things you own end up owning you;
- Everyone smiles with that invisible gun to their head;
- I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may.
Recommendation
In my opinon, this is well worth seeing, I even watched it on repeat and it is easily one of my favourite movies. It isn't a pleasant movie though. It will absorve you to stay until the end to see the history going along, it has many thought-provoking quotes that will make you think twice and you surely will be surprised as the things go on in this movie.
