COMMON USES
Sunset yellow FCF is used as an orange or yellow-orange dye. For example, it is used in candy, desserts, snacks, sauces, and preserved fruits. Sunset yellow is often used in conjunction with E123, amaranth, to produce a brown colouring in both chocolates and caramel. Sunset Yellow FCF is also used as an additive that adds or restores color in food for cats, dogs, ornamental fish, grain-eating ornamental birds and small rodents.
PRECAUTIONS/HEALTH RISKS
- E110 colorant itself may lead to allergic reactions, especially in people with aspirin intolerance.
- Other side effects of E110 may include nausea, hives (rash), nasal congestion, rhinitis (runny nose), kidney swelling and chromosomal damage.
- The E110 food additive is often a cause of indigestion, vomiting, stomach pain and food rejection.
Do not allow the use of E110 in children's diets, to avoid hyperactive behavior and loss of concentration in children.
