What is the agency for digital Italy?
The Agency for Digital Italy (abbreviated AgID) is an Italian public
agency with the aim of reaching the highest level of
technological innovation in the organization and development of the
public administration, in
compliance with the principles of legality, impartiality and transparency
and according to criteria of efficiency, economy and effectiveness.

An important task of AgID is to accredit or authorize subjects (public or
private) who carry out certain activities in the digital field (for example:
electronic storage, digital certificates, time stamps, PEC, PagoPA, SPID
intermediary, etc.).

CARACTERISTICS AND GOALS
The structure incorporates and inherits the competences previously assigned to the Innovation Technologies Dissemination Agency, DigitPA and the Innovation and Technology Department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
The goals of AgID are as follows:

ensure coordination of state, regional and local governments encouraging the adoption of infrastructures and standards that reduce the costs incurred by individual administrations and improve the services provided.

accredit the certifying subjects in the digital field (CA - Certification Authority), for example for the issue of a digital certificate, SPID, electronic storage, timestamp, etc.,
03
reach the optimization of public administration spending on information technology
04
carry out the tasks necessary for the fulfillment of the international obligations assumed by the State in the matters of competence;
goals
05
promoting digital innovation in the country
06
the issuing of guidelines, regulations and standards
07
the promotion of computer literacy initiatives for citizens
Moreover, AgID is a member of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
(ETSI provides members with an open, inclusive and collaborative environment. This environment supports the timely development, ratification and testing of globally applicable standards for ICT-enabled systems, applications and services.)
