Naroch Once upon a time, there was a girl called Nara who lived on the shore of a large lake with clear water. At sunset, she loved sitting by the water on the sandy shore and singing while playing the harp. An old rich widower heard these songs and he wanted to marry the girl.

But Nara had a fiancé and she refused to marry the man. Then the servants killed the guy, and the girl was brought to the old man’s mansion. On the night before the wedding, Nara set the palace on fire and tried to escape.

The palace guards followed her towards the lake. When Nara realized that she couldn’t run away she rushed into the water. Since that time, the lake is called by her name - Nara or Naroch.
