The Children’s Commissioner (2018) estimated that 100,000 children in England were living with an adult who had ‘toxic trio’ issues to a severe extent.
The model has been criticised as too simplified. Research and statistics are very limited and there is no clear evidence that these factors combined increase the risk to the child.
