Plot
Coraline Jones is a 11 year old girl who struggles to adapt her new life after her parents move from Pontiac, Michigan, to the Pink Palace Apartments in Ashland, Oregon. At her new house she feels bored and alone. She finds a secret door in the wall that only opens during the night. She discovers a world that seems to be a parallel version of her life, with only one slight difference- everything is better and everyone has buttons for eyes. Coraline's "other mother" invites her to stay forever if she lets her sew buttons, and Coraline begins to realize that this alternate universe is trick to lure her in so her "other mother" can essentially "eat up her soul".
