What is Pointillism?

Pointillism is a painting technique using tiny dots. The dots build up to create a picture.

Artists, such as Georges Seurat, realised that instead of the paint being blended and mixed on a palette, they could apply it in dots. The dots merge to create a new colour.

Your mission...

Today, you are going to create a piece of art inspired by Pointillism.

What you will need...

A selection of Pens

Cotton buds

A colour wheel

Primary colours

A4 Sheet Paper

Step 2

Next, use a cotton bud to dot two other sections of the wheel yellow.

Step 3

Next, use a cotton bud to dot the remaining section red.

Step 4

Now carefully add some red dots to the section between the yellow and the red

You only need a small amount of red paint. Dab the cotton bud on a paper towel to remove any excess paint.

Step 5

Next, add some blue dots to the section in between the yellow and the blue.

Step 6

Next, add blue dots to the section in between the red and the blue.

You now have a completed colour wheel

Just like Georges Seurat, you have managed to create orange, green and purple without mixing any colours on a palette.

Thanks!
