AUthor information

Windigos are evil, ice-covered, man-eating creatures that appear in many Native American folktales, including those of the poet's Chippewa culture. The human spirit is said to live within the creature, but the only escape is death. This poem presents a different perspective of the traditional tale.

LITERARY ELEMENTS IN THE POEM:

WHAT I UNDERSTAND

It is a terror story from the Chippewa culture and is about a demon combined with a dog and a human, who seeks to kidnap a child to possibly eat him. The story is told in the first person, which let us to know that Windigo tells the story and makes us imagine the images of the scenes that unfold. to conclude the poem says that the boy knew that windigo was going for him but in the end it ends in a horrible scene.
