The light bulb
Thomas Alva Edison
Edison didn't invent light bulbs but he did improve them.
Light bulbs already existed in the 19th century, but they were very delicate and did not last long. Edison improved them and made them cheaper, safer and capable of lasting 14.5 hours. After his triumph, he created an electricity company to search for inventions that could be reached by everyone.
