The aim of these activities is to revise JOBS and encourage students to talk about them and learn how to express their opinions. The set gives ss a lot of opportunities to practice personality qualities, describe job responsibilities as well as participate in small group discussions about JOBS. The activities are designed both for individual practice and class fun. The T can organize small group discussions or written activities to give ss maximum practice.
Name the job
Compare the job
* Slides 3-7 contain the sets of 3 different jobs that ss need to discuss. They need to name the job, say what you do in each job and finally explain what qualities you need to have to be good at this job. Click to show the questions one by one. Version 1 - T assigns a different slide to a different group of ss and asks them to prepare a short oral presentation that answer the questions. Version 2 - go from one slide to the other asking individual students to answer individual questions. This way each person can have a chance to speak. Follow-up - ask ss to write the answers to the questions.
* Slide 8-12 contain sets of 4 jobs that ss need to compare answering the questions and giving the reasons. The HINT button contains helpful expressions that ss can use to express their opinions. Organize small group discussions encouraging the ss to express their opinions. Version - hold a whole class open discussion. Ask each ss to prepare a few of their ideas that they will later present to the class. Follow-up - ask ss to write a paragraph presenting the reasons for their choices.
Describe the job
* This game encourages ss to create sentences trying to get from one side of the board to the other. On the way ss need to express a true opinion about a given job. In addition, the green button changes the order of the qualities so that the options could be modified. Use white markers to mark the road from point A to B.
