Life Below Water

I could visit local aquariums and ask experts of the ocean for advice and information. I could also visit websites like the global goals website or some ocean information websites that have expert advice and information about our oceans.

This connects with me because I love animals and I want our oceans to be cleaner and not be affected by climate change. I also watch David Attenborough and in his episodes he talks about how climate change, pollution and overfishing are affecting our waters and about all of the animals in the ocean that are being effected by us. This makes me feel sad and guilty that all of our amazing animals in the ocean could become extinct because of us, it also make me want to help make life below water better.

1. Organise a beach clean-up and ocean clean-up in our communities once a month. People can go out on their boats and clean up the rubbish in our oceans as well as having some people stay on the beaches and clean up rubbish there. 2. Talk to the government about making more protection areas in our waters where you can’t go fishing. This will help with the overfishing problem we are facing as then the animals can go to that protected places which won’t be fished in. 3. Get your community to avoid products that have lots of plastic wrapping and say yes to biodegradable bags that after you use them you can put them in your compost bin to break down. This will reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in our oceans. 4. Talk to the government about making a rule that when some of the species of fishes population are running low we make that species of fish protected from being fished, this will help to make the population of fish increase rather than decrease. 5. Get other people involved in buying things second hand. This will reduce the amount of plastic packaging and will give the product a second life rather than it just being thrown away.

Some of the solutions I have to help fix this global goal require a community effort, and others might have different perspectives about the solutions that I have so that could stop me from finding a solution. Also this goal is quite a big one as it is about helping the entire ocean, and I am only in one part of this world, because of this it could also stop me from finding a solution to this goal.
