How to use time expressions

We use verbs in the past simple, to talk about

: 1. Something that happened once in the past. Example: The film started at 7:30 (seven thirty) 2. something that was true for some time in the past: Example: We stayed with our family in Cartagena 3. When we talk about something that happened several times in the past, we use the past simple Example: Sometimes they went out for a meal

Time expressions are used in the past tense for daily communications. These past tense expressions are: Last, ago and yesterday; combined with other words to talk about what you did in the past. Structure Last, ago, yesterday + verb in the past + rest of the sentences Eample: Yesterday , I ate hot dog.

  • Last summer, we visited my mom in San Andres Island
  • Last week, she bought a new car
  • I studied English ten years ago
