wHAT IS ETB ETHOS?

Your school is an ETB school. There are 16 ETBs in Ireland and DDLETB is the one your school belongs to! It is the largest ETB in Ireland

ETB stands for Education and Training Board

DDLETB stands for Dublin and Dún Laoighre Education and Training Board

Put simply, ethos is how we live, work & relate to each other in our daily life in school.

ETB Core Values:

Core values of a school refer to the highest priorities. You can think of the school as a compass and the values are the directions. Core values will guide and direct decion making in the school. This will impact the experince of being a member of that community.

Excellence in education refers to the school aims to achieve excellence in all aspects of learning and teaching. Excellence in Education encompasses outcomes, experiences and expectations for all members of the school community.

In an ETB school Care is about the wellbeing & safety of all members of the school community. It is seen in meaningful relationships, connectedness and empathy, support and solidarity. Can you think of an example of how care is shown in your school?

In an ETB school, community is about students, staff, parents/guardians & the local community. It is about having a sense of belonging & a voice that is listened to. It can be seen in productive collaboration, positive contributions & effective communication.

In an ETB school, equality is about treating all members of the school community equally and recognising and celebrating the diversity of these members. Schools promote a culture of equality and inclusion which affirms diversity.

In an ETB school, respect is about upholding the dignity and rights, each member of the school community. It can be seen in relationships between all members of the school community. The school promotes a respectful environment for all members.
