Description

The Statue of Liberty was a joint effort between France and the United States, intended to commemorate the lasting friendship between the peoples of the two nations. The French sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi created the statue itself out of sheets of hammered copper, while Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel, the man behind the famed Eiffel Tower, designed the statue’s steel framework. The Statue of Liberty was then given to the United States and erected atop an American-designed pedestal on a small island in Upper New York Bay, now known as Liberty Island, and dedicated by President Grover Cleveland in 1886. Over the years, the statue stood tall as millions of immigrants arrived in America via nearby Ellis Island; in 1986, it underwent an extensive renovation in honor of the centennial of its dedication. Today, the Statue of Liberty remains an enduring symbol of freedom and democracy, as well as one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks.

Location

The statue of liberty stands on Liberty Island, Manhattan, New York City, United States of America

Characteristics

The statue is a figure of Libertas, a robed Roman liberty goddess. She holds a torch above her head with her right hand, and in her left hand carries a tabula ansata inscribed JULY IV MDCCLXXVI (July 4, 1776 in Roman numerals), the date of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. A broken shackle and chain lie at her feet as she walks forward, commemorating the recent national abolition of slavery. After its dedication, the statue became an icon of freedom and of the United States, seen as a symbol of welcome to immigrants arriving by sea. The statue has the height of 93 meters and the width of 46 meter, the statue is made out of copper which has oxidized throughout the years and weights as heavy as 31 tons

CINEMATIC STATUE OF LIBERTY

MASSAGE AND IMPRESSIEON

A French nuance brings a thick air to the Statue of Liberty itself, from its long view towering over the Ellis area bringing a deep soul to life. Every engraving. Every carving he made (Frederic-auguste bartholdi) has a deep meaning. From the overall shape of the statue which means "women and freedom" and this statue has a slick charisma to anyone who sees it. I can't imagine that sometimes the feeling of wanting to see it again for real or the feeling of wanting to see it occasionally comes.

The Statue of Liberty was created by a French sculptor named Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi. Bartholdi was assisted by Gustave Eiffel (the designer of the Effel tower) in designing the iron frame of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty is a gift from the French people to the American people, which symbolizes American freedom. This can be from the shape of the statue of Liberty seen at the feet, there is a broken chain bound. It was a sign of being released from being bound by tyranny. Lady Liberty also holds the chart for America's Independence Day in Roman numerals, which is July 4, 1776.
