Student teaching offers students first-hand teaching experience and the opportunity to explore the learning processes in the EFL classroom. Meaningful connections between theory and practice will be made. Students will encounter the realities of the Israeli education system, in general, and the junior high school and high school in particular. Through observation of a host teacher and supervised teaching, the student teacher will be expected to reflect, develop a repertoire of teaching skills, understand diverse learners and become familiar with the English curriculum and its implementation in the Israeli classroom.

Duration
1st semester 1st, 2nd and 3rd of January
During STW, students experience school-life and teaching just like certified teachers who have been in the field for some time. Students are exposed to school culture, on a daily basis, for one whole week. This project has been taking place in our department (year 1, 2, and 3) and in all other departments for many years, to acquaint you with school life , as students in our teacher training college. During stw, you will attend school for 15 weekly hours (3-5 days – depending on you host teacher’s schedule and school limitations).
You will be working in collaboration with staff, students and colleagues and teach two consecutive lessons in the same grade. Double lessons are not considered two lessons.
You will write up lesson plans with materials according to instructions you will be given by hosts.
During student-teaching week, I will be visiting you in school.
