In the affirmative form of the past simple of regular verbs, -ED is added to the base form.
How do you pronounce -Ed?
There are three different ways to pronounce the 'ed' ending of regular verbs in the simple past tense:
/ Id / , / t / or / d /.
The pronunciation depends on the sound at the end of the base form
1. If the base word ends in a /t/ or /d/ sound, -ed sounds like /id/. wanted = /wanted/ 2. If the base word ends in a voiceless sound, -ed sounds like /t/. worked = /workt/3. If the base word ends in a voiced sound, -ed sounds like /d/. travelLED = /traveld/
A voiced sound is one that vibrates in your throat when you say it.
