Opportunities and challenges encountered by solicitors in the UK
01
Challenges
Data protection and cyber security
Law firms are desirable targets for hackers. Any leak might expose solicitors to allegations of negligence for failing to protect data
Businesses must make sure that all of the data they manage complies with the requirements
Offering greater value
Clients are looking to collaborate with fewer solicitors across several disciplines in order to save money and improve business efficiency
Solicitors will have to endure difficult customer procurement procedures in order to be named the exclusive provider
02
Opportunities
Efficiency in legal services delivery
Solicitors are seeing the importance of procurement teams, who can increase productivity while solicitors concentrate on their jobs
Efficiency, procedure, and quality are crucial at a time of digitization, intense competition, and increased client expectations
For support services that might be crucial for service delivery, legal teams rely largely on key providers
Technology
Solicitors take advantage of the promise presented by the evolving technology solutions
The productivity of solicitors can be significantly increased by using the appropriate technology to carry out simple but crucial activities

Education pathways
- Solicitors: register for CPE(Common Professional Examination) and LPC(Legal Practice Course)
- Barristers: register for BVC(Bar Vocational Course ), and attend bar school before obtaining a pupillage at a barristers’ chambers for 12 months. Once completing pupillage, you may be offered tenancy at the chambers and you now work at that chambers as a barrister and vice versa.
Functions
Solicitors dealt with any legal matters. They cannot appear solely in any courts. Solicitors still attend court with their barrister, but only to take notes and help with the documentation
Barristers are on behalf of clients in the court, where they act as counsel to draft documents associated with court procedures as well as give legal advice for each case
