WHY IS IT CALLED THAT?

01. history

The goddess Demeter and Zeus had a daughter named Kore, but later renamed Persephone.Persephone stood out for her beauty and had several suitors such as Apollo, Armes, Ares and Efecto. Demeter rejected them and protected her daughter from the gods as she wanted a life for her daughter away from men. One day Persephone was collecting some flowers protected from a group of nymphs and also Athena and Artemis, when suddenly a crack opened in the earth and Hades appeared who kidnapped Persephone and took her to the underworld. The nymphs looked for Persephone but there was no result and they were punished by becoming mermaids. Demeter not knowing where her daughter was went into depression and abandoned everything to look for her daughter. This had consequences on nature since she was the goddess of this.

02. HISTORy

Finally Hermes convinced Hades but with one condition, not to eat food that was underworld. Before Persephone left, Hades tricked her into eating six pomegranate seeds. Persephone after returning to earth was punished for eating food from the underworld which meant returning six months a year to the underworld.

Demeter is given a wonderful idea and goes to hit Helios and he tells her where his daughter is.The other people complained about nature since there were no crops. Zeus sent Hermes to retrieve his daughter and ordered his brother Hades to free her.

03. History

The six months in which Persephone was with her mother, the earth was great but nevertheless when Persephone was in the underworld the earth had no vegetation. And so the four seasons of the year were explained and their consequences on nature in each of them.
