When we shalllow the bolus, it goes into the pharynx and then down the oesophagous thanks to muscular movements called peristalsis. Finally, the oesophagus pushes the bolus into the stomach.

STOMACH

The stomach secretes substances called gastric juices. The continue to break down the bolus to form a liquid called chyme. The chyme then goes into the small intestine.
