Hackers Vs Hacktivists
While they are fundimentially different, they both use the same tactics and tools that are specilised to gain unrestricted access. What makes them different at the end of the day is intention.
Hackers
Hackers have intentions, and those intentions just so happen to be attacking others for their own pleasure.
They usually want to steal data not for the purpose of informing the company, but to cause distruption in the company by selling said data online.
Hacktivist
Hacktivists, unlike bog-standard hackers, do what they do because they are driven by politics or any other means. This can range from targeting those with opposing views to shutting down sites that oppose their views.
