Principles in materials
development
- Principle 8: The opportunity to interact in the L2 is central to developing L2 proficiency.
- what’s is being thought should be perceived as relevant and useful by learners.
- Content should be engaging.
- The activities should engage the learners, so that they , are carried along by them almost without realizing they are learning.
Principle 8: The opportunity to interact in the L2 is central to developing L2 proficiency
This principle is very important because it helps the student to learn a language other than his mother tongue, and this favors so that he can communicate with different people, either from different countries, and learn new vocabulary, since this will serve to improve the mastery in the second language.
01
what’s is being thought should be perceived as relevant and useful by learners.
This principle is very important, because when designing English materials, children should perceive them as interesting for their learning, and at the same time it has to be striking so that they are not perceived as boring, and this will result in them losing interest in the material that has been designed for the improvement of their learning, that is why it is important that the student learns with didactic materials so that they favor their cognitive development
02
Content should be engaging
This principle in addition to being very important to develop better learning in the second language, this should be a striking and interactive material that in the eyes of the students causes curiosity and interest in learning a language different from their own, and this in turn will improve the learning of students.
03
The activities should engage the learners, so that they are carried along by them almost without realizing they are learning
For me this principle is important, because as teachers we must design useful materials with interactive learning methods in order to integrate them to the students, and these in turn must facilitate a better understanding of the topics to be treated, as a result it will be obtained that the students learn little by little a better vocabulary
04
Authentic materials
Authentic materials are created by native English language people, these materials are not used as a learning method. Since they are used in your life I would say.

authentic
materials in the class
advantages
disadvantages
- They are materials with great ease of obtaining, which help both the teacher and the student to acquire a better learning.
- These materials are of great breadth, therefore, they help a lot to people who want to learn another language.
- These materials help the student to know the different daily routines of people
- Some words that the natives handle are very different and this makes the students fail to understand their meaning.
- These materials sometimes hinder the way students learn, because there are audios and texts that have a great complexity and this makes students lose interest.
vs
Non -authentic materials in
the class
advantages
disadvantages
- These materials help to improve student learning as they contain activities performed by teachers
- These materials are intended to motivate the student, in order to enrich their learning
- These materials do not have enough vocabulary, and that causes the student not to learn new words
.
- The material designs sometimes handle the same methodology, and this affects student learning.
