What was the human genome project

Also called the Human Genome Initiative, the Human Genome Project was an international effort launched in 1988 by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Energy order all the genes on the 46 chromosomes of humans. The countries involved in the project were The United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, Great Britain, France, and Italy.

What they did

The Human Genome Project is an international research project whose primary mission is to decipher the chemical sequence of the complete human genetic material. In March 1999, the international Human Genome Project successfully completes the pilot phase of sequencing the human genome and the launch of the full-scale effort to sequence all 3 billion letters that make up the complete genetic blueprint for a human.

How is a genome presented

The genome is organized into 22 paired chromosomes, plus the 23rd pair of sex chromosomes (XX) in the female and (XY) in the male.

what are the uses of mapping someones genome and how similar are they to all humans

mapping someones genome can give firm evidence that a disease transmitted from parent to child is linked to one or more genes. All human beings are 99.9 percent identical in their genetic makeup. Differences in the remaining 0.1 percent hold important clues about the causes of diseases.

Explain how this helps with giving out medicine

The Human genome project benefited biology and medicine by creating a sequence of the human genome.
