Sports
Next up we are going to talk about a tradicional sport, Aikido. Aikido was developed by Morihei Ueshiba after World War II. This martial art goes beyond the development of self-defense capabilities and combines philosophical, religious and cultural elements. One of the basic characteristics of Aikido is that it is a martial art oriented more to personal development than to its application as a fighting technique. Also for that reason, Aikido is also a non-competitive martial art. In Aikido there are no confrontations with other competitors but personal progress.

Traditions
After New Year, the Toka Ebisu Festival is another of the great Japanese tradition. For five days in January, thousands of people crowd a small Shinto shrine in Gion, to pray to Ebisu, the god of good fortune and prosperity. Toka means "the tenth day" and although the festival focuses on celebrating January 10, it lasts for five days, so it runs until January 12.
Festivities
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur
The Shogatsu is the most important festivitie in Japan. During shogatsu, people display outside Kadomatsu houses, which are arrangements made from pine and bamboo branches. Traditionally this was done to welcome the kami (god in Japanese). This date is a period to make plans and new resolutions for next year.
