Biomes are large groups of ecosystems with very similar abiotic and biotic factors, depending on climate, landscapes, and plants to decide what animals live there. For example Tropical rainforests have lots of precipitation, high temperatures, and lots of biotiversity.
Rain ForestBiome
Intrduction here
- High annual rainfall, between 60-300 feet a year
- Nutrient-poor soil
- One of the most biotically diverse biomes on earth
- Along with very diverse types of this biome meaning that not all tropical forests have the same species, rainfall, and climate and differ vastly
The Jaguar is the main apex predator of most tropical rainforests. They are also completely unique to tropical l rainforests. Jaguars are Carnivores and prefer to eat capybara, deer, and birds.
Tropical rainforests are found in central and south America, central and western Africa, India and Southeast Asia, the island of New Guinea along with Australia

The lush green habitat of the Amazon rainforest is home to more than 3-50 million different species of animals.
Macaws are a very common species of bird you can find in the Amazon. They can fly up to 35mph and have a wingspan of 41-45 ins. They are one of the most colorful birds, and their lifespan is up to 50 years!
Crazy Facts!
10% Of Earths wildlife is found in the Amazon alone! There are 2.5 million bug species in the Amazon. The Amamzon is the largest rainforest on earth and is over 5.5 square kilometers! Not just the Amazon but all trpical rainforests are the most biotically diveres biomes in the world!
Unique Plants
The Rafflesia nicknamed the "corpse flower" is a parasitic flower that was given its nickname due to its smell of rotting flesh..
The heliconia flower is a lovely home for many bugs and bats in the amazon, but not for too long because they only live around 71 days.
Giant water lilies are the largest water lily in the world. They can grow between 3-6 feet and can weigh up to 30 kg!
Rain Forest Adaptations
Rain forests are very unique biomes and have very unique creatures living in them. Those creatures have had to adapt to their environment to thrive and here are some examples. Chameleons most famously are known for their camouflage. Some trees in the Amazon grow with tall slim trunks to reach the sun over the tree canoy.
