SGS can help our clients by calculating, analyzing, reducing and protecting against the incident "heat energy" that is generated when the electric arc phenomenon occurs

The electric arc or arc flash is one of the most common and dangerous accidents that occur in the electrical sector

ARC FLASH ANALYSIS

Accident related to arc flash:

  • They represent a large percentage of occupational accidents that occur each year
  • During an electric arc, temperatures of thousands of degrees celsius can be reached, capable of causing serious burns.
  • In extreme cases, chain damage can occur to other nearby in voltage elements, due to the ionization of the air.

WHY OUR SERVICE?

The national regulation itself, and more specifically the R.D. 39/1997 of January 17, which approves the regulation of prevention services, indicates in art. 5.3...

These organizations have given rise to a series of prestigious standards such as NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584

There are many investigations carried out to study the phenomenon of the electric arc, many of them by organizations of recognized prestige

INVESTIGATIONS PERFORMED

In electrical installations in service

ANALYSIS

This analysis will be carried out

The NFPA itself, as well as different prevention technical notes NTP904 and 957 of the INSHT (National Institute of Safety and Hygiene at Work), specify that an exhaustive analysis of the electric arc must be carried out in the following situations, for the good of the workers and the affected facilities themselves.

01

In new electrical installations

02

Whenever any important change is made

04

03

For periods not exceeding 5 years

  • Training for all workers on the electrical risks
present in their installation.
  • Adopt measures that put collective protection before individual protection.
  • Signal the different risk points of a facility based on the existing level of risk.
  • Minimize the effects caused in the event of an accident
  • Select the appropriate PPE for each job position

SGS, as a leading company in the sector, has the most advanced media available in the simulation and calculation market, to carry out the analysis of the electric arc of the clients´ installations, from which they will be able to:

  • Limit the risk and danger zones due to electric arc
