THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SETTING
NAIARA MOYANO -ERICA GARCÍA
The details of winter and the isolation about the town's intensity in the atmosphere make readers feel the desperation and this man’s isolated life.

The way these settings (the weather, the place and the house) are transmitted, help readers to sense the oppression of Ethan’s life.
- The main character, an old man, has lost almost all recollection of his home. He is completely alone in the “empty rooms.” There is no one to remind him of his life. All he knows is that he needs to stay there.
- The night and this old man’s memories create a loneliness atmosphere and isolation. In this way readers can feel the sadness of the man who is dying.
