  • Typically, English follows a familiar pattern with word order in sentences: subject, verb, object or SVO
  • Ex. “John caught the ball.”
  • This is a perfectly understandable sentence, right?
  • Sometimes you can changed SVO into Subject Object Verb.
Ex.
  • "John the ball caught."

Inversion happens in English for emphasis, dramatic purpose or formality. *Shakespeare loved inversions.
