- Typically, English follows a familiar pattern with word order in sentences: subject, verb, object or SVO
- Ex. “John caught the ball.”
- This is a perfectly understandable sentence, right?
- Sometimes you can changed SVO into Subject Object Verb.
- "John the ball caught."
Inversion happens in English for emphasis, dramatic purpose or formality. *Shakespeare loved inversions.
