TITLE: Effect of Different Extraction Solvents on the Antioxidant Content (Kernel Nuts) ASSIGNED LECTURER: Madam Shahrina Summary/Overview: Four types of samples which are physical extraction (kernel nut's oil), diethyl, hexane, and petroleum ether were used and analyzed to check which samples are suitable to check the antioxidant capacity. Aim/Objective & Method: This study aims to compare the antioxidant capacity and content of physical extraction (kernel nut's oil), diethyl, hexane, and petroleum ether. In addition, a method was applied for antioxidant capacity: 2,2-diphenyl-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). DPPH assay was used to determine the free radical scavenging activity of the samples.

Drying process

Physical Extraction

Weighing process

The sample is dried for 1 hour 30 minutes and let cool for 15 minutes.

The sample is extracted by using mechanical press.

The dried sample is weighed until the weigh is constant.

Peel sample

The kernel nut is peeled by using mortar and pestel.

UV-Vis Result

Sample obtained

Preparation

The sample obtained from the extraction was 4 ml.

Prepare the stock solution and mixture based on concentrations given.

The mixture then being ran in the UV-Vis and the data is obtained.
