PAST PROGRESSIVE
Este es un tiempo que se usa para describir una acción que comenzó en el pasado, continuó durante un periodo de tiempo y ultimamente terminó en el pasado. El Past Progressive se usa frecuentemente junto con el Simple Past.
AFIRMATIVE SENTENCES
Structure Affirmative sentences: Sub+Was/Were+Verb+ing+Complement Auxiliaries=Was and Were. I/he/she/it con estos pronombres se utiliza el auxiliar was. We/you/they en estos pronombres se utiliza el auxiliar were. En oraciones afirmativas no se usa formas cortas del Pasado
progresivo.
EXAMPLES STRUCTURE AFIRMATIVE SENTENCES
1. He was playing soccer. 1. El estaba Jugando futbol. 2. She was working in the office. 2. Ella estaba trabajando en la oficina. 3. They were run in the park. 3. Ellos/Ellas estaban corriendo en el parque.
NEGATIVE SENTENCES
Structure Negative Sentences: Sub+Was/Were+not+Verb+ing+complement Wasn't/Weren't De la misma forma, los pronombres I/he/she/it utilizan el auxiliar was, pero en forma negativa, el cual es Wasn't. We/you/they utilizan el auxiliar were en forma negativa, el cual es Weren't.
EXAMPLES NEGATIVE SENTENCES
1. I was not painting my drew. 1. Yo no estaba pintando mi dibujo. 2. He wasn't playing videogames. No estaba jugando videojuegos. 3. They weren't sleeping in the school. 3. Ellos no estaban durmiendo en la escuela.
INTERROGATIVES SENTENCES
Structure Negative Sentences: Was/Were + Sub + Verb+Ing+ complement + ? En esta estructura el verbo y el auxiliar se cambian de lugar, además se agrega el signo de interrogación al final de la oración para que esta sea considerada interrogativa. De la misma forma, los pronombres I/he/she/it utilizan el auxiliar was. We/you/they utilizan el auxiliar were en forma negativa, el cual es Weren't.
EXAMPLES INTERROGATIVES SENTENCES
1. Were we laughing too loud? 1.¿Estábamos riendo muy alto? 2. Was he painting the new house? 2. ¿Él estaba pintando la casa nueva? 3. Was she playing basketball? 3. ¿Ella estaba jugando baloncesto?
