Welcome to the 24th - 31th Primary School of Heraklion Crete
The bulding itself is made of stone and it is very old! It is a jewel of our city with its magnificence and imposition. It used to be " Georgios A. Geronimakis Municipal Nursery" (1927-1961). Τhe 24st Primary School was housed in this building from 1965. The 31st was housed after a few years. Students share the same yard and classrooms.
As soon as you open its tall heavy iron gate, you are in front of its stone steps leading to the main entrance.Immediately your gaze falls to the right on a stone canopy that looks like a small house.
There , in the nursery, as they used to call it, newborn babies were left, abandoned by their young, unmarried mothers who were unable to raise them due to the social outcry. The person leaving the baby rang a small bell to alert the people in charge to take the baby inside and look after it.
Our school garden is small. The same goes for our classrooms.
There are ..... 350 students, 40 teachers, 2 manager and support staff in this building.

Thank you!
