SCOPE / TIME TIME BUDGET COMMUNICATION

QUALITY

Selection and evaluation of personnel

Provides the company with people with the appropriate qualifications for its operation, and with this, the following advantages are obtained: The right people require less training Less time to adapt to the organization Increased productivity and efficiency 2.- You help people to be placed in the most appropriate position according to their personal characteristics, with this, the following advantages are obtained: · People more satisfied with their work · Greater permanence in the company.

A project proposal is a written document that outlines all the information stakeholders need to know about a project, including the schedule, budget, objectives, and goals.

Project supervision and review

To establish an adequate monitoring of the project, we will need to know what information is needed to carry out an effective control of it. Thus, depending on the characteristics of the project, the program will be updated weekly, monthly, etc. The last step of Project Management is Evaluation. When we are done we have the opportunity to learn from our mistakes. Their analysis will make future decisions more realistic. For example, we must ask ourselves if we have underestimated the duration of the activities, if the established priorities have been correct, if we have assigned the work to the appropriate personnel or if there have been delays in the reception of the material, as well as if the quality was appropriate.

Project supervision and review

A project report is a document that communicates the progress of aspects of the project, containing data relevant to that part of the project and the intended audience. To improve, companies need to monitor and analyze their performance year after year.

Project management phases

The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) organizes project phases according to its life cycle, starting with Project Initialization and ends in Project Closure. Each phase of the project life cycle consists of specific project objectives, results, deliverables, processes, and milestones, and it grants project managers and organizations more control over the projects they handle. A project phase is a collection of related project management activities. Their relationship in the life cycle is often sequential, and each project phase culminates with the completion of one or more project deliverables.

Phase 1 Project Initiation

A team’s performance during the Initiation phase can result in the authorization, delay, or discontinuation of a new project. The main goal of the Initiation phase is to ensure that the project meets business needs and that stakeholders (a party that has an interest in a company and can either affect or be affected by the business. The primary stakeholders in a typical corporation are its investors, employees, customers, and suppliers), and project teams are aligned on the project success criteria throughout the life cycle

Phase 2 Project Planning

Once the expectations and success criteria are clear, the next project management phase is about planning what tasks the team needs to perform to achieve them. In the Project Planning phase, the project team members dive into specific requirements, tasks, timelines, and actions. The project scope is finalized depending on the resources available and the clients’ priorities.

Phase 3 Project Execution

The Project Execution phase is where your team follows through on your plans. At this stage, you’ll spend most of your time coordinating with people, helping ensure quality work, keeping track of resources, and updating stakeholders.

Phase 4 Project Monitoring & Control

The best way to ensure progress and improvement is by tracking and reviewing project performance. As you execute a project, keep track of your change management documents, spending records, QA checklists, and team time tracking. This way, you can measure where efforts and resources go throughout the project life cycle and crosscheck your planning.

Phase 5 Project Closure

In the last project management phase, all the activities related to its completion are concluded. These may involve the submission of a final deliverable, fulfilling contractual obligations, terminating relevant agreements, and releasing project resources.

Project Management Plan

A project management plan is a set of documents that outline the how, when and what-ifs of a project’s execution. It overviews the project’s value proposition, execution steps, resources, communication tools and protocols, risks, stakeholders (and their roles) and the deliverables involved in a project’s completion. Its documents include an executive summary, Gantt and team charts, risk assessment and communication- and resource-management subplans.

Fundamentals of Project Management Institute - PMI

The Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI) is the project management industry's non-profit standards body. With over 250 project chapters and 200,000 members worldwide, PMI is the largest project management membership group. PMI is a volunteer organization that supports and drives our industry forward. PMI, in conjunction with its volunteer membership, developed A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), which is the agreed upon book of standard language, terminology and principles governing project management.

Resources' tasks are distributed and teams are informed of responsibilities. This is a good time to bring up important project related information. Status & Tracking Issue & Risk Tracking

A project plan, project charter and/or project scope may be put in writing, outlining the work to be performed. During this phase, a team should prioritize the project, calculate a budget and schedule, and determine what resources are needed. Scope & Budget Project Schedule Resource Planning

An idea for a project will be carefully examined to determine whether or not it benefits the organization. During this phase, a decision making team will identify if the project can realistically be completed. Project Requests Project Prioritization Scorecard Approval Flows

Project managers will compare project status and progress to the actual plan, as resources perform the scheduled work. During this phase, project managers may need to adjust schedules or do what is necessary to keep the project on track. Objectives Quality Deliverables Performance

After project tasks are completed and the client has approved the outcome, an evaluation is necessary to highlight project success and/or learn from project history. Project Evaluation Process Assessment Lessons Learned

AnimalFoodJ&M

Justification

Scope

The main reason for what we do with a pet food store, is to look for a correct administration of purchase and sale of this type of products efficiently and effectively, thanks to the detailed module of purchase to suppliers and sale to customers. With an additional advantage, that it will be possible to visualize in a more precise way what has been bought and sold during a given time range in the system.

Our software project will have coverage initially in the city of Bogota DC: in the country of Colombia. There, will be the purchase and sale of products focused on feeding animals. As for the type of animals to be distributed, will be all domestic and farm. With respect to suppliers, the registered and current health registration will be searched.

CONCLUSSIONS

We have learned the basics to carry out the initialization of a software project with the corresponding regulations, which will be our support throughout the software project phases. Also, there are valuable information that we found regarding the organization and carrying out a project in an organized and systematized manner. In this way, the way requirements are generated and what the client ultimately wants from our work as software engineers is more robust.
