Transcript
Banksy is a graffiti artist originally from Bristol, in the UK. He likes to remain anonymous and not let people know his true identity. He often draws in high visibility public places such as on buildings or train stations.
He uses his art to express his ideas and opinions about world problems and his work often contains messages about politics, war and social problems.
The graffiti is done with a stencilling technique. Such works have been done on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world.
Banksy "was born"in 1974. When he started he used a freehand technique for his graffiti.
Banksy's work started in the Bristol underground scene.
Instead, in 1990, he started using stencils and now most of his works is with stencils using spray paint.
Banksy's work started in the Bristol underground scene.
He also includes anything found in the street, like street signs and other objects, to create uniquepieces of street art.

Banksy in Jerusalem
This appeared in Jerusalem in 2003 and is perhaps one of Banksy’s most well-known pieces. To many people it is a symbol of peace and hope in the face of adversity and destruction. The masked rioter is throwing not a “Molotov Cocktail” but a bunch of flowers.

WHO IS BANKSY?
The truth is, nobody knows. He never gives interviews and nobody has ever seen him in public. We don't really know anything about his life because we don't even know his real name and he doesn't want anybodyto make any money out of his work either.

A few years ago, Banksy played a trick on Sotheby's Art Gallery when they tried to sell an original copy of his very famous Girl With Balloon. The picture sold for £ 860,000. Seconds after the auction ended, the painting started to self-destruct with a special shredder built in th picture frame. Maybe Banksy was there in the auctionwith a remote control device.
Devolved Parliament is a 2009 oil-on-canvas painting by Banksy, replacing British politicians debating in the House of Commons with chimpanzees. The painting is nearly four metres wide and is the largest known canvas by Banksy.
IT was titled Question Time when first shown at the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery's 2009 Banksy show. (The depiction of chimpanzees echoes Banksy's 2002 work Laugh Now.) In 2019, the artwork became Banksy's most costly to date, selling for £9.9 million ($12.2 million) at Sotheby's in London on October 3, 2019.
Painting for Saints or Game Changer is a 2020 painting by Banksy, who donated it to the Southampton General Hospital in Southern England, United Kingdom.
The artwork depicts a child playing with a toy nurse, having selected the toy over superheroes Batman and Spider-Man, and was unveiled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The painting is largely monochrome apart from a red cross on the nurse's uniform. It was delivered to the hospital together with a note: "Thanks for all you're doing. I hope this brightens the place up a bit, even if its only black and white".
The hospital titled the artwork Painting for Saints, which references "The Saints", a nickname for Southampton F.C.. Banksy himself posted the image on his Instagram account with the caption "Game Changer".
The artwork remained at the hospital until it was auctioned off to benefit charities affiliated with the National Health Service. It was sold for £16.75m on 23 March 2021, which is a record for a work by Banksy.
AN AMAZING FACT ABOUT BANKSY
In 2004, he produced 1 million pound notes with the image of Princess Diana on the front insteadof the Queen's. The notes were also altered to say "Banksy of England" instead of Bank of England. Banksy had planned to throw the notes from a building, but he changed his mind after some notes, which were given out at a festival, were actually used to buy things.
Watch
Some people are critical of Banksy's work and don't think it's art at all. They say that creating graffiti on buildings without permission is illegal. They think it damages other people's property and the the police should find Banksy and arrest him.
