Read the passage and find the conflict of the story. Treasure Island A boy named Jim Hawkins lives with his parents in an inn they run in 18th century England (1). After a sea captain named Billy Bones passes away in the inn, Jim discovers a treasure map in Billy’s trunk(2). When a group of pirates come looking for the map, Jim takes the map to a neighbor, Squire Trelawny, who helps Jim arrange a sea voyage to find the treasure (3). The captain of the ship they hire unwittingly hires a crew made up of pirates who want the map for themselves (4). The head of the pirate crew, Long John Silver, leads the crew in mutiny and threatens Jim and the captain (5). With the help of a half-crazed man named Ben Gunn, who has lived alone on the island for years, Jim is able to retake the ship and outwit the pirates, including Silver (6).

When the narrator reaches Leatherhead, his wife is not there, so he goes on to London (11). He finds that most of the streets are deserted. Fearing the worst, and exhausted from his journey, the narrator collapses (12). He is nursed back to health by people who have found him (13). He learns that the Martians were infected by the earth’s bacteria and perished (14). When the narrator returns to his village, he finds his wife waiting for him (15).
