What do we do?

Our Primary Task To design and delivery quality CPD and Electives to Geography teachers. We will do this by supporting geography teachers implementing the new Junior Cycle Geography Specification that meets the needs of their students. Improving student learning is at the heart of what we do.

The JCT Geography team is here to design quality CPD that is • Practical • Relevant • Meaningful • Improves practice • Keeps the interest of the teacher

To complete our primary task • everyone needs to feel safe to do the wrong thing • understand that everything produced is for the Team • not take ownership of work you produce • understand the rationale for change • acknowledge work created • be accountable

Working as a team is important to •to complete our primary task • to get everyone’s input and ideas • to support each other • be singing off the same hymn sheet

Design & Delivery quality CPD Work with teachers and Demonstrating exemplars of effective learning, teaching and assessment strategies, approaches and methodologies across a range of curricular areas Working with teachers sharing experience Advice and support in relation to the Framework

Being knowledgeable and competent in Geography, the Geography Specification and T,L & A strategies so that teachers receive effective CPD . Listen to teachers and having the capacity to address their queries and / or provide explanations Being responsible and accountable Communicate effectively
