VocabularyPreposition of movements
We use prepositions after verbs to describe the direction of movement. It's common to use these prepositions after verbs that describe movement (walk, come, go, drive, cycle, fly, etc.), although it is also used after other types of verbs (We talked over the fence, I looked into the room, etc.) or after nouns (the path to the beach, the road from Leeds, the way up the hill, etc.)

Vocabulary:Prepositions of movement
One of my favourite journeys is walking 1 from my house in Lower Sydenham 2 to the shopping area in Lewisham. I go 3 out of my front door and 4 across Southend Lane and then, after a few minutes, I go 5 down some steps and 6 into a quiet, riverside park. It's really beautiful, with lots of trees, flowers and green grass. I walk for about forty minutes near the river and then go 7 through Ladywell Fields, a large park. Then I go 8 up some steps and right at the top is Bardsley's, my favourite café, and some nice shops.
2 Match the prepositions in Jaynie's description with pictures A - H.
