I conducted this survey, at Phoenix Mall, Viman Nagar on 27th August, 2022. This is a case study/ survey project for the subject - Retail Design.

MR. DIY is a retail shop that falls under the category of

DEPARTMENTAL STORES.

About -

All MR.DIY stores are managed directly and in collaboration with large retailers and mall owners. MR.DIY offers an average of 18,000 types of products at some of the lowest prices on the market.

First opened a store on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman in July 2005 and has now grown to become the largest home improvement retailer in the region with stores across Malaysia.

SECURITY DETAIL :

There was no separate security room provided at the entrance of the retail shop. One security guard present. A CCTV Room has been provided inside the retail store. A storage/ utility room is provided adjoining to the CCTV room. Utility area - 1039 sqft. Low ceiling height - 6 ft. Provision of fire extinguisher, smoke detector and sprinklers.

SECURITY PEOPLE : 4 (1+3)

Baggage Detail :

Storage for bags has been provided on the right hand side corner of the main entrance. No provision of a separate room has been provided. A cabinet has been provided. Approx. Dimension - 9' x 7' x 1' Approx. Compartment Dimension - 1' x 1' / 1'3" x 1'3". Number tokens were provided.

Baggage Detail :

Carts were provided at the baggage area itself. Provision of a manual call point. Provision of a wall mounted 6kg ABC fire extinguisher.

RACK DETAIL

Full rack units. Skirting below the racks - 3" Stainless steel / aluminium stands - croceries. Protection railing in front of the shelves - 1" L and U shaped framework.

Flooring Detail :

Floor Tile Size - 2' x 2' Vitrified Tiles - Double Charged. Isle Spacing - 4' Floor skirting - 3" to 6"

Wall Treatment :

Wall Covering - PVC Sheets. Sheet size - 2' x 6' Color - White Columns - Grey Color. Each column - 3 module switch. Exposed electrical design. L shaped stainless steel edge covering

Ceiling Detail :

Exposed Ceiling Ductable AC. Color - Grey. Electrical Conduits - marked red. Fire Protection provided - color red. Smoke detector, sprinklers.

LED Strip Lights. Perforated U shape stainless steel rails.

Fire Safety & Protection

Manual Call Point - Entrance and CCTV Room. Escape Route - Same as the main entry and exit, no different route. Fire Extinguisher - Wall Mounted 6kg ABC Modular 5kg ABC Powder. CO2 4.5kg. Fire exit signage - suspended fire exit sign, should be on self-contained 3hrs battery backup.

Fire Safety & Protection

Cashier Detail :

Exposed Ceiling Ductable AC. Decorative False Ceiling. Green Artificial Plants and Hanging pots. Stainless steel mesh for decorative false ceiling. LED Strip - Lighting. Video Advertising.

Cashier Detail :

MDF sheet used on the desks. Strip lights - Placed at a particular height. Illuminated signage. Black tinted, glazed glass Bag and exchange rack.
