According to Villalobos (2014) CBI is an approach that does not focus on the language, but on what can be taught through it. Language becomes the medium through which something new is learned.

Focused on the student learning a second language and a subject at the same time, according to Wiseman (2018) this approach not simplifying the content, this just tries to integrate the language and content.

It is an approach in which learners have to perform interactive tasks to communicate with each other. (Van den Branden, 2016) The focus of the lesson is not to learn some structure but to "complete the task".
