Write down these terms in your jotters: Customers (target market/segments) Market Research Marketing Mix (4P's) Technology in marketing

What is marketing?

  • The exchange between sellers (supply) and buyers (demand) for particular goods or services is called a market.
  • Marketing involves trying to meet the needs and wants of customers.

To do this, organisations need to...

  • what their customers want (market research)
  • who their customers are (target market)
  • how they are going to get the right product, to the right person, at the right time and at the right price (Marketing Mix or 4Ps)

Why is marketing important?

  • Can attract new customers by letting them know about the range of products the business has
  • Can allow the business to enter new markets (eg using the internet to sell a product on the other side of the world)
  • Helps the business grow by entering new markets
  • Increases the amount of profit a business makes

Task

  • Research TikTok, ASOS and Nike to find out what marketing jobs they have
  • In a presentation or information sheet (Google Docs)
  • Pick 1 job from each business
  • Summaire the job in these areas;
    • Title of the job
    • A description of the job (e.g. what does it invlove?)
    • Requirements of the job (e.g. experience needed, qualifications)
    • A short insight into that company (this is usually at the start of the Ad or right at the end)
    • Benefits of the job
    • Make this eye-catching/visual!
