What is marketing?
- The exchange between sellers (supply) and buyers (demand) for particular goods or services is called a market.
- Marketing involves trying to meet the needs and wants of customers.
To do this, organisations need to...
- what their customers want (market research)
- who their customers are (target market)
- how they are going to get the right product, to the right person, at the right time and at the right price (Marketing Mix or 4Ps)
Why is marketing important?
- Can attract new customers by letting them know about the range of products the business has
- Can allow the business to enter new markets (eg using the internet to sell a product on the other side of the world)
- Helps the business grow by entering new markets
- Increases the amount of profit a business makes
Task
- Research TikTok, ASOS and Nike to find out what marketing jobs they have
- In a presentation or information sheet (Google Docs)
- Pick 1 job from each business
- Summaire the job in these areas;
- Title of the job
- A description of the job (e.g. what does it invlove?)
- Requirements of the job (e.g. experience needed, qualifications)
- A short insight into that company (this is usually at the start of the Ad or right at the end)
- Benefits of the job
- Make this eye-catching/visual!
